Hello, I am a university student doing a research project on dart throwing. We broke down the dart throw into 11 components that we want to teach children and we are looking to find a "dart expert" who could help us put them in order of importance. If no one is really qualified to answer this, does anyone know where I could look? Any help would be greatly appreciated! 1. elbow held at 90 degree Thanks, Jay |

Hi Jay, I'll try and put them in order for you but remember that everyone has their own unique style. For example Peter Manley rocks back n forth when he throws and none of the other top players do. 1, |

Thank you for your quick response. I think you may have brought up a great point. I'm hoping to get more responses and see if I get a concensus or not. Although, I'm really not expecting to at this point. Could you possibly give a little reasoning behind the order you decided upon? And any other responses would be appreciated! Thanks, Jay |

Hi Jason, The important thing is #2 without a shadow of a doubt. The elbow has to be straight and lined up pointing towards the board. Hand-eye co-ordination is the main focus of darts. A straight follow through is of almost as much importance and I'd say you need to have a smooth action. This keeps your action stable and consistent. |
