Darts is the collective name for a number of games where the focus is on throwing darts at a target. Despite these variations, the game is today largely standardised and based around a specific circular board with set rules. The game is widely played on both amateur levels, where it has flourished as a traditional pub game, and at a professional standard. The origins of the game lie in the United Kingdom, but the game has spread all over the world and is particularly popular today in the Commonwealth, the Netherlands, Israel, the USA, Ireland and Scandinavia.
